Appendix A. Installing Xcode

With every copy of Mac OS X and on every new Macintosh, Xcode is provided free

  • As a compressed archive on the hard drives of new Macintoshes. Look in /Applications/Installers and Demos for a disk-image (.dmg) file named Xcode Tools. Double-click this file, and it will appear in the Finder as a removable disk containing the Xcode installation package.

  • As an installable package on Mac OS X installation DVDs. Look for a folder named Xcode Tools.

  • In an additional CD-ROM in Mac OS X installation CD-ROM sets.

  • As a free download from http://connect.apple.com for members of the Apple Developer Connection.
