APPENDIX BSix Sigma Tool Checkoff List

The example of the Six Sigma tool checkoff list given here can be used as a guideline for building a tool checkoff list specific to your project. This example was used for a project to develop a laser and digital camera inspection device to measure the rim diameter of a product (case study in Chapter 2). Initial tests had shown that a series of lasers, if directed at the rim of the product, could project an image onto digital cameras, enabling a quick inspection of the rim diameter. The purpose of the project was to replace a slower gauge that used dial indicators. Although the dial indicator gauge gave satisfactory measurements, it was too slow to keep up with a planned increase in line speed.
