6.2. WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED IN CHAPTER 6

  1. Simplified process flow diagrams are used primarily in the Define, Analyze, and Improve steps of the DMAIC process.

  2. A simplified process flow diagram will help further pinpoint the area in which efforts should be concentrated. Of special interest in a process is where data are collected, since this will often help focus the study to a defined process area.

  3. Simplified process flow diagrams work well in conjunction with a fishbone diagram. By using the two, the areas to further investigate and sample are minimized.
