This chapter develops the simple linear regression model and discusses the assumptions and how to evaluate them. Once you are assured that the model is appropriate, you can predict values using the prediction line and test for the significance of the slope using the t or F test. In Chapter 10, the discussion of regression analysis is extended to situations where more than one independent variable is used to predict the value of a dependent variable.
