Computing Normal Probabilities

You can use Minitab to compute normal probabilities. Referring to the example in Section 5.6 in which μ = 0 and σ = 1, you find the probability below -3 standard deviations, as follows:

  1. Enter -3 in the first row of Column C1.

  2. Select CalcProbability DistributionsNormal.

  3. In the Normal Distribution dialog box (see Figure A5.3), select the Cumulative probability option button. Enter 0 in the Mean: edit box and 1 in the Standard Deviation edit box. Enter C1 in the Input column: edit box. Click the OK button.
