Glossary

Addition Rule of Probabilities Determines the probability of the union of two or more events.

Alternative Hypothesis Denoted by H1, represents the opposite of the null hypothesis and holds true if the null hypothesis is found to be false.

Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) A procedure to test the difference between more than two population means.

Bar Chart A data display where the value of the observation is proportional to the height of the bar on the graph.

Bayes’ Theorem A theorem used to calculate P(A|B) from information about P(B|A). The term P(B|A) refers to the probability of Event B, given that Event A has occurred.
