Meeting the lawyers

Outline your plans for the business, and get their feedback, but specifically you want their advice on :

  • The contracts for any premises you might need.
  • The contracts for any equipment you might be leasing.
  • The terms for any funding you may need.
  • The best company structure (see the next page).

If you’re going to be hiring staff soon, you also need to discuss this with the lawyers as you’ll need to put employment contracts in place.

Get quotes from each lawyer setting out the services they think you’ll need and their quote for that service. Discuss these with your mentor.
