Emma and Alan each have lunch at different places in the local area every day this week, and compare their notes. They discuss the price, attractiveness of the shop and the display, the menu, the queue, the quality of service, and anything that made the place stand out.
They find there are a lot of similarities. Most of the big chains are very similar to each other, and most of the independent sandwich bars are very similar.
They like the way Pret A Manger has facts about the food all over the place, and that they have lots of staff so you get served quickly even when it’s busy – but they find the choice a bit limited. However, at least they have some healthy options.
