What is an opportunity?

To an entrepreneur an opportunity is an idea that meets a customer’s need so well, in fact better than any competing ideas, that they are prepared to pay money for it.

So, first of all – you need a customer. Give some thought to whom the target customers for your idea might be. Try to be as focused as possible. If you’re really saying ‘everyone’ then your sales and marketing will, ironically, be much harder. But if you decide, for example, that your target customers are people who love classic cars, then you can take a stall at classic car fairs, advertise in classic car magazines, join classic car forums online, and so on. So a clear focus will really help you.
