Any task that requires repetition can be organized as a process. A business process is a series of steps and procedures that automate repetitive tasks. Why is this important? Humans exhibit habitual tendencies similar to those of animals from a physiological perspective. Being habitual creatures allows us to operate on autopilot so we can focus on other, more important aspects of life. We develop a rote method to do all of the tasks that are not necessarily important and don’t require precision thinking. For example, we brush our teeth, comb our hair, and eat certain foods the same way every day.
