Formatting Spreadsheets for a Specific Purpose

Between the material covered in Chapter 3 and our discussion of styles and templates in this chapter, you can see that Calc provides a large number of possibilities for formatting your spreadsheets. You can combine formats into styles, and you can use styles for conditional formatting. You can also take formatting and styles even further by developing your own templates.

When you set out to create a new spreadsheet, try to keep in mind the ultimate purpose of that spreadsheet. Is this spreadsheet only going to be viewed on the screen, or is it going to be printed out and included in a report?
