Running the Show

Now comes the easy part—the production phase.

The director tells you that it’s all yours. There’s an audience out there. All you have to do is run the show. You have some long-range responsibilities (Chapter 15), but your basic functions should now be firmly under control.

An interesting difference between new and experienced stage managers is that the new stage manager thinks of running the show as the most difficult and most demanding part of the job, whereas the experienced stage manager thinks of it as the most relaxing part.
