Creating a KPI

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are used to visualize specific metrics that represent the overall health of what is being measured, such as sales or growth. The Tabular Model supports the creation of KPIs that can be used in various client tools.

Getting ready

You need to first create a calculated measure. We will use two new calculations for this KPI in the Internet Sales table. In Measure Grid, create a new measure in the Total Product Cost column, named Total Cost. You can do this by simply clicking on a cell in the column in Measure Grid in the Total Product Cost column. Next, use the aggregation shortcut on the toolbar to create a SUM measure and rename the column Total Cost.
