Execution Patterns

To have a full understanding of SQL Server 2012 Integration Services execution, you must first understand the different Deployment models. There are two: the Package Deployment Model and the Project Deployment Model. Each exposes and supports a different functionality. The Package Deployment Model primarily supports legacy functionality. It is the model used in SSIS 2005 through SSIS 2008 R2. The new way of doing things involves the Project Deployment Model. Certain execution methods, but not all, are available to both deployment models.
