Data The actual values stored in a table. The data may be of binary, character, or numeric type and may be defined by several data types in SQL Server 2008.

Data Type A specification that determines the type of characters or information that may be placed in a table column. SQL Server supports numeric, character, and binary data types.

Database A collection of organized data that is stored in a digital format within a computer system. A database may be stored in one or more physical files on the hard drive.
