9.2. Use the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard

SQL Server import and export wizards provide the simplest manner in which to copy data between various data sources and construct basic data transformation packages. There are five ways to launch the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard:

  • In a command prompt window, run DTSwizard.exe, located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\binn.

  • In SQL Server Management Studio, do the following:

    1. Connect to the Database Engine server type.

    2. Expand Databases.

    3. Right-click a database.

    4. Point to Tasks.

    5. Click Import Data or Export Data.

  • In Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), from the Project menu, choose SSIS Import and Export Wizard.
