Having a shoot go well takes preparation—not just making sure your camera is ready, the battery is charged, and the memory card has enough space, but also knowing what poses you want from your subject. There are many similarities between photographing a world-class athlete and your child, chief among them that you will not get a whole lot of time from either one. Having an idea of how you want the subject to pose before the shoot is key, and being able to show the subject what you are talking about can really speed up the whole process.
