Photography Basics

The basics of photography are pretty simple: Light is allowed to reach the sensor in the camera body through the lens. You control the size of the opening in the lens (aperture), the amount of time the light is allowed to reach the sensor (shutter speed), and how sensitively the sensor reacts to that light (ISO). By adjusting these three settings, you control how the photo will look. Allowing too much light in through the lens or having the shutter open for too long will cause the image to be overexposed or too bright. Allowing too little light through the lens or using too fast a shutter speed will result in the image being too dark or underexposed.
