Where Outlook Saves Configuration Information

Outlook 2003 saves information in a variety of places. Some settings are stored in files located on your hard drive, some settings are stored in the Registry, and some information is stored as hidden items inside Outlook folders. For instance, all Outlook items are stored in either an Exchange data store or within a Personal Folders file. Recent searches for Contacts using the Contact Quick Find tool are stored in the Windows Registry.

This appendix details a large number of the files, folders, and Registry keys that Outlook uses to operate on a daily basis.
