The Ongoing Evolution of XHTML

With the solid base of modularized XHTML, all that's necessary to build new versions of XHTML is to define new or updated modules and build a language. That's exactly what was done with XHTML 1.1 and XHTML Basic, and that's what's planned for the future of XHTML. Forthcoming developments in XHTML include extended input forms, standardized event models, and XHTML 2.0.

XForms

The XForms specification is an ongoing work in progress by the XForms Working Group to create the next generation of interactive forms for use with XML-based languages, including XHTML.
