Native XML Databases

The term “native” with Native XML Databases refers to the notion of a data storage application that keeps the XML document intact. The application, by its very nature, keeps the structure of the XML pure and does not transform the XML into another data structure for relational or object-oriented database applications. The data model in this context is often referred to as similar structures that XPath, XML infoset, DOM, and SAX implement.
