From here, we will take a look at the specifics of dealing with Elements and Attributes in Chapter 3. We'll look at how they are named, when they are used, how they are declared, and how to create a well-formed XML document. This will lead into creating valid XML documents with technologies such as Document Type Definitions, which are covered in Chapter 4. DTDs are one mechanism for creating valid XML documents. Another mechanism for creating valid documents is XML Schemas, which we will cover in Chapter 5, “Defining XML Document Structures with XML Schemas.”
