XPath

The XPath Recommendation provides a mechanism for locating elements and attributes within an XML document. The Recommendation can be found at

In addition to adding functionality for XML processing, XPath is essential in enabling technologies such as XSLT by providing the mechanism to locate specific areas within an XML document with a high degree of granularity. XPath 2.0 is also currently in development, and it has been released as a Working Draft that can be found at
