IP Addressing Schemes

IP addresses are used to identify computers that are connected to a network. They enable communication between computers irrespective of the type of network technology used to connect the computers. IP addresses are broadly divided into three types of address classes: Class A, Class B, and Class C. Classification is based on the number of bits allotted for the network ID and the host ID on the network.
