Managing Modems and Terminals
Different versions of Unix provide several processes and interfaces for administration. For example, HP-UX uses sam, Linux uses wvdial, and so on. The following tools were introduced with Solaris to administer and manage modems and terminals.
Service Access Facility (SAF)— SAF, introduced with Solaris 2.3, is a tool that provides a common interface for the management of different physical resources such as modems, terminals, and other network devices. This helps in the uniform management of the physical resources from a common location.
