Managing Modems and Terminals

Different versions of Unix provide several processes and interfaces for administration. For example, HP-UX uses sam, Linux uses wvdial, and so on. The following tools were introduced with Solaris to administer and manage modems and terminals.

  • Service Access Facility (SAF)— SAF, introduced with Solaris 2.3, is a tool that provides a common interface for the management of different physical resources such as modems, terminals, and other network devices.
