Adding and Configuring a New Disk

Before adding and configuring a new disk, install the boot block on the system. The boot block is a program located at a fixed point of a hard disk. It loads when the system is turned on or reboots and controls the next phase of loading the actual OS. You can install a boot block on a system disk by using the installboot command as displayed in the following command. To install, you have to be the superuser.

# /usr/sbin/installboot /usr/platform/'uname -i'/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/cwtxdys0
