Overview of the User Environment in Solaris

Solaris is a multi-user operating environment that allows thousands of users to operate in a single system. Managing such a large client base can become a challenging task for the Solaris administrator. Therefore, it becomes necessary to lay out an effective user policy to avoid security breeches and maintain smooth workflow.

Some of the most important user administration tasks include maintaining unused disk space, finding disk I/O bottlenecks, answering user queries, and adding and removing users.
