Default File System for the Local and Remote Systems

The /etc/default/fs file contains the default local file system. All commands that require the file system type to be specified should use the –F option. All commands search the –F option in the command line to identify the file system. If the file system is not specified in the command line with the –F option, the command searches the /etc/vfstab file for the file system type. If it cannot determine the file system type, it checks the /etc/default/fs file to determine the default local file system. The default local file system used in Solaris is UFS.

Change the entry LOCAL=ufs in the /etc/default/fs file to change the default local file system.

#vi /etc/dafault/fs
LOCAL=ufs
