Template Initialization Files
Template initialization files store the templates of user-level initialization files. Users can customize their environments by copying these template files to their home directories and modifying them.
The /etc/skel directory contains the following template files for the user-level initialization files:
local.profile
local.login
local.cshrc
The local.profile is copied to the .profile file in the home directory of the Bourne and the Korn shell users. Listing 7.2 shows a sample local.profile file in the /etc/skel directory.
