What Is the DOS Shell?

The DOS Shell program is a visually oriented user interface that replaces the DOS command line with easy-to-use and easy-to-understand menus. It enables you to use a mouse (or other pointing device) to perform many common DOS tasks.

Introduced with DOS 4.0, the DOS Shell is no longer a primary part of DOS. With the advent of DOS 6.2, it has been relegated to the status of a supplemental program and is thus included on the Supplemental Disk. If you are upgrading from ...
