Personal Dashboards

The default dashboard is shared by all users. There is only a very limited amount of personalization possible, as the list and layout of Web Parts is determined by the Workspace Coordinator. To provide a more flexible place where users can maintain their own dashboard, SharePoint Portal Server provides Personal Dashboards.

To ensure that personal dashboards are not intermingled with the default dashboard, they are stored in a separate place, the Dashboards folder. A consequence of this is that personal dashboards will not appear as a tab in the out-of-the-box dashboards, because the tabs represent child or parent folders, as explained earlier in the “Creating Sub-dashboards” section.
