Prerequisites for Installing SharePoint Portal Server

The following prerequisites must be met before installing SharePoint Portal Server:

• Windows 2000 Hotfix (Pre-SP2) cannot be installed on the computer. If it is installed, remove it before installing SharePoint Portal Server. See Q269862.

• The Windows Remote Registry service must be running.

• Ensure that W3SVC/1 (Default Web Site in IIS) is started.

• SharePoint Portal Server setup performs a test to warn of invalid IIS settings. The TCP port in W3SVC/1 must be set to 80 with IP Address (All unassigned).
