The Document Management Process

A document's lifecycle begins with the initial creation of the document by an end user, and is often extended as it is reviewed and approved by others. SharePoint Portal Server provides a unique way of managing the stages of the document's lifecycle. Some of the key features that will be discussed in this chapter are check in and check out, routing approval, and document profiles. In addition, we will discuss folder-level Coordinator procedures that use and manage other key document management features of SharePoint Portal Server.
