Configuring DHCP Clients

The dhcpcd daemon reconfigures any interface that it is called against. Ensure that dhcpcd is configured to run against only those interfaces you want a dynamic address given to.

Looking in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, the file that is of interest to you is ifcfg-eth0 (or ifcfg-tr#, if your system is so configured). Within this file is a parameter called IPADDR. This parameter is one of the IP address or DYNAMIC. Naturally, the dhcpcd package must be installed for DHCPC to work.

After dhcpcd is started, Caldera's dhcpcd scripts write the information about the lease IP and related data to /var/run/dhcpcd-eth0 (or substituting eth1, tr0, or tr1, and so forth, for eth0). This information will be used by dhcpcd in future ...
