Choosing a Medium for Your Message
When Marshall McLuhan said, “The medium is the message,” he was referring to the power of television and its influence on how we interpret information. Television is one type of medium used to express information. Canvas is one type of medium for a painter's artistic expression. The medium of expression is basically the link between the message and the mind.

Media is plural and medium is singular, but sometimes media is used as a collective noun to describe a larger set (the newspaper media, for example).
