Adding Lines, Borders, Shading, and Backgrounds

Word lets you draw border lines and apply colors and other forms of shading to specific pieces of text, cells in tables, paragraphs, entire tables, or entire pages. When you draw a line around a page, it's called a page border. When you apply colors or shading to an entire page, it's called a background. And when you place a picture or text "behind" the text on a page—say, to print DRAFT diagonally across the page, or CONFIDENTIAL—that picture or text is called a watermark.
