Working with Scanned Images

Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint directly support scanners and digital cameras that include TWAIN (Technology Without an Interesting Name) drivers (the industry-wide scanner standard). This option does not require any separate image-editing software.

To scan a picture directly into an Office document, choose Insert, Picture, From Scanner or Camera. The dialog box you see next varies, depending on the capabilities of your input source. Typically, the TWAIN driver enables you to choose the image type and resolution; some software also lets you choose the image size.
