Common Formatting Options

Although each Office applications enables you to modify font formatting, and those with paragraphs (Outlook, Word, FrontPage, and PowerPoint) enable you to change paragraph formats, only Word and Outlook use the same dialog boxes to do so, and each application has its own quirks.

Changing Character Attributes

To change character formatting, follow these steps:

  1. In all Office applications, select the characters you want to change.

  2. In Word (see Figure 4.12), Outlook, Publisher, FrontPage (see Figure 4.13), Access, or PowerPoint, choose Format, Font. In Excel (see Figure 4.14), choose Format, Cells, and click the Font tab.
