Overview of Server-Side XML Processing
Chapter 1, “The Essence of XSL,” described several scenarios in which XML might be useful. One scenario involved serving XML documents from a Web server. As a refresher, Figure 9.1 depicts a Web server that serves XML documents to different browsers, including Internet Explorer 5, Netscape Navigator 4, Lynx, and Brand X browsers. As pointed out in that chapter, each browser type has different capabilities. For example, Internet Explorer version 4 supports Cascading Style Sheets, while Navigator 3 does not.
