What Is a Servlet?
Although Enterprise JavaBeans perform many of the data-oriented tasks in an application server, you also need a way to generate Web pages containing dynamic data. Servlets are Java classes that handle Web requests and generate responses. Most of the time, servlets receive requests from Web browsers and generate HTML output.
