Summary

Organizational units are a major enabling feature of Windows 2000 Active Directory. They enable delegation of authority, to a large extent group policy, and the single-domain model.

Planning organizational units is probably the most time-consuming process, unlike creating them, which is operationally very simple. A good OU design takes into account security and group policy inheritance as well as administrative delegation.
