Printer Objects

Adding a printer to the directory has to be one of Active Directory's most impressive features. This is due largely to the fact that, in the past, users had to browse for printers on the network, which generated an unnecessary amount of network traffic.

When publishing a shared printer to Active Directory, users now are able to search the directory for a specific printer based on their printing needs. No longer do they have to go around and ask other people where to find a printer that prints double-sided, collates, staples, and delivers to your desk. (Okay, that last feature is a wish, but it would be useful!) Now a user can search the directory for that information.
