Group Policy Replication

As mentioned earlier, the Active Directory portion of the group policy is replicated using normal AD replication mechanisms. On the other hand, the file-based portion—the group policy template—is replicated using the file replication service.

File Replication Service

The file replication service (FRS) is automatically installed and configured on every Domain Controller. No management console exists for FRS. The FRS replicates changes to group policy templates to all other DCs in the domain.
