Surface Modeling

Surface modeling, as the term depicts, is the process of creating a surface (or, as some people refer to it, "a skin") to produce a completed model. This is more explicitly defined as a collection of individual surfaces that, when brought together, can represent a 3D model that looks similar to a solid, where it appears as if the entire model is one surface. This can better be defined by visualizing a plastic container, such as a milk bottle, which is actually made up of multiple surfaces welded together to complete the finished part. This method is widely used by industrial designers and stylists to establish a product shape or style.
