Several Autodesk products have export options with the AutoCAD renderer, including 3D Studio Max, 3D Viz, AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, Advanced Modeling Extension (AME), Autosurf, AutoCAD Designer, and of course Mechanical Desktop. Only the first two software products, 3D Studio Max and 3D Viz, require that you save you model into another format. AutoCAD has a built in feature for specifically importing and exporting AutoCAD drawing file to and from these products. These commands, called 3dsin and 3dsout, are available from two separate pull-down menus.
