Chamfering Edges

As mentioned earlier, the Chamfer command places a beveled edge at the intersection, implied or actual, of two selected objects. As with the Fillet command, you have the option of trimming those objects to the chamfer endpoints.

The command can be activated by selecting the Chamfer button from the Modify toolbar (see Figure 9.23), by choosing the Chamfer command from the Modify pull-down menu, or by typing CHA at the command line.

The following is a list of objects that can be chamfered:

  • Lines

  • Polylines

  • Rays

  • Xlines
