Symbol

The SYMBOL field inserts any symbol you specify.

Note

In general, it's faster and easier to use the Insert, Symbol dialog box. However, the SYMBOL field does solve one significant problem. Normally, if you reformat a large block of copy with a new font, and that copy contains Wingdings or other symbols, the symbols will be reformatted in a text font—and no longer appear as symbols. This doesn't happen if you specify a font with the SYMBOL field.

Syntax

{ SYMBOL charnumber [Switches] }

\fUses a specific font you name.
