ListNum

The LISTNUM field inserts—within or at the beginning of paragraphs—a sequence of numbers that can automatically update.

Syntax

{ LISTNUM Name [Switches] }

Switches

LISTNUM switches correspond to the three "legacy" AUTONUM fields left over from earlier versions of Word:

SwitchWhat It Does
LegalDefaultIncludes default legal numbering (equivalent to AUTONUMLGL).
NumberDefaultIncludes default numbering (equivalent to AUTONUM).
OutlineDefaultIncludes default outline numbering (equivalent to AUTONUMOUT).

In addition, LISTNUM includes two field-specific switches:

SwitchWhat It Does
\lSpecifies a level for the list.
\sSpecifies a start-at value for the list, overriding the default setting of 1.
