Index
The Index field compiles an index based on index entries marked with XE fields (including those marked through the Mark Index Entry dialog box).
Tip
You'll usually find that the fastest way to insert the index is to choose Insert, Index and Tables and work from the Index tab.

Switches
Switch | What It Does |
---|---|
\b | Indexes only the part of the document contained in the bookmark you specify. |
\c | Specifies the number of columns on each page of the index, up to 4. |
\d | Changes characters that separate sequence number from page number. |
\e | Inserts a separator character, which you specify between quotation marks. |
\f | Builds an index based on entries with a specific letter identifier (for example, \f x). |
