General Switches Available in Word Fields

Many fields utilize general switches, which fall into four categories:

  • Capitalization formatting switches. These switches specify the case of text that should be placed in the document (all caps or lowercase, for example).

  • Sequence formatting switches. These switches specify the sequence Word should use for a set of numbers (1, 2, 3, for example).

  • Numeric picture switches. These switches specify how Word should format values (0.01%, for example).

  • Date/time picture switches. These switches specify how Word should format dates and times (M/d/yy, for example).

When a field is listed as supporting some or all of these switches, please refer to the detailed switch information in the following sections.
